Science behind The CoolSlim Plan:

The science behind the diet plan is Ayurvedic- an ancient Indian holistic approach. The universe like us humans is made up of 5 elements- water, earth, air, ether (space) and fire. We are all composed of these five elements but we do not all have the same amount of each of these elements. It is found that we have two elements more than the others. These two elements create doshas or energies. There are three doshas or energies- vata, pitta, and kapha.

The doshas are the three primary energetic principles which regulate all physiological and psychological process in the body. A harmonious state between the doshas or energies results in the foundation for good health and a disharmonious imbalance results in a variety of signs and symptoms.

The elements – ether and air combine to form the dosha or energy vata.
Fire and water form pitta while water and earth constitute kapha.
Therefore vata, having the light elements of ether and air, has the mobile characteristic of air and ether; pitta acquires the energy of fire and water (helps control digestion fire) while kapha inherits the solid or stable elements of water and earth.

Putting on excess weight is a kapha disorder and the main condition is due to eating too much, doing too little and being inactive too much. The cellular fire in the tissue is low. To increase our biological fire pungent, bitter and astringent foods will help.

Excess food and calories consumed by the person are not burned and these turn into adipose or fat tissue. This makes the person overweight and obese.
There are foods including spices that decrease the Kapha dosha or energy in the body. Click here for CoolSlim Kapha Spice Mix.

What this means is that you eat your staple diet emphasizing on the Kapha reducing foods.

How does one do this?
To understand we need to know that all foods have 6 tastes to them and if we are not eating all 6 tastes daily this causes an imbalance in the body. The six tastes are:

  1. Salt e.g. Pickles, meat, soy sauce
Effect in body: calming and enhance digestion

  2. Sweet e.g. Sugar, honey, certain grains (wheat, rice, barley, cornmeal, millet, rye, quinoa), milk, sweet fruits (apples, berries, pears, grapes, sweet melons) sweet vegetables (corn, carrots, onions, sweet potatoes)
Effect in body: calming and soothing to the system.

  3. Sour e.g. Tomato sauce, yogurt, lemon, tomatoes, vinegar, some fruits are sweet and sour ( strawberries, grapes, oranges, pineapple, papaya, rhubarb)
Effect in body: taste stimulate digestion

  4. Bitter e.g. Salad, celery, olives, spinach, turmeric, lettuce
Effect in body: creates lightness and clarity

  5. Pungent e.g. Cayenne pepper, garlic, onions, ginger, carrots
Effect in body: decongest the system increasing digestion

  6. Astringent e.g. Beans, lentils, chickpeas, cabbage, potatoes, lettuce, carrots, corn, soy beans, celery, spinach
    Effect in body: create lightness

Each food produces its own energy. How much of each dosha or energy our body produces depends greatly on how much of each taste we have eaten. Once ingested, tastes work on even after having been digested. They continue to influence our physical and emotional balance.

Once the target goal has been achieved eat foods from the six tastes every day.

To reduce kapha you want to increase on foods in the other 3 tastes- bitter, pungent and astringent. All foods have their own qualities. Warm, dry lighter foods reduce Kapha by stimulating and increasing warmth to help their sluggish system. Eating more bitter foods such as green leafy salad and coffee, pungent foods such as hot peppers, black pepper, onions, garlic and ginger and astringent foods such as lentils, chickpeas, beans, yellow split peas, okra and turmeric will help.
